WHAT I WORE TODAY.......Making promises....

I have a few New Years fashion promises. I hate to make resolutions this time of year. Because they never stick, giving up food, partying, smoking, drinking and all the rest never goes well when it is the season for over indulging and getting wrecked. So this year, I am making these fashion resolutions instead. While I still can!
Here's to 2011, my fashion filled fun year of madness. Can't wait kids!
dance dance dance!
I PROMISE TO RECYCLE MY DRESSES MORE :
I was amazed to find this Topshop gem hiding in the bottom of my wardrobe. In amongst the rubble. It had slipped off a hanger. Once I get the whole buttons at the back thing fixed it should be hot to trot! Possible New Years eve dress I think.
Dress - Topshop
boots - Primark
Hat - Vintage shop in Milan.
I PROMISE TO WEAR MY ANKLE BOOTS MORE
I bought these as I left Dublin, and have been stranded in Dundrum with not even a sniff of glamour on me. So I trotted off to Pennys and picked up these. Which due to the embarrassment of the loud clumpy noise they make when I walk, have not worn since. That and I am WELL tall in them!!! So I promise to find a way to team with other stuff and wear them more often. Before they go out of fashion and I look stupid - well, more then I normally do.
I PROMISE TO EXPERIMENT WITH CRAZY LIPSTICKS :
I got very safe towards the end of this year. I lived for my Ruby Woo from MAC and I still do. But this, this is Cyber by MAC. I want this to be my lipstick for the new year. I know the rest of my make-up is not done it doesn't look great. But I love the drama involved with a dark lipstick like this. Since my black lipstick was stolen by someone, I have been stuck for a dark lipstick. Thank god for this. I promise to wear this more with killer outfits instead of going for the safe option and reaching for red.
I PROMISE TO WEAR SILLY HATS AND NOT FEAR JUDGEMENT :
I remember how low I felt before I bought this. Sad as I was leaving Dublin and my little flat. However, just before I was due to finish, I found this bonnet on sale in River Island and treated myself to it. I had to have it. But I do feel I look a little bit insane in it. So I only ever wear it when alone or out on long walks. But next year I promise to wear it more often and with rocking outfits.
Hat - River Island
Apologies on the bad picture but : I PROMISE NOT TO FEAR THE MAD TIGHT :
I have a collection of Henry Holland tights which I have never worn. These are the pink version of the ABC tights. I have never worn them. In Jan, I will resolve to wear more of these tights. But you do have to wear them with a mostly black outfit so you don't overdo the look! I teamed these with ankle boots, a T-Shirt pretending to be a dress. Although it was shorter then I thought it would be. So I think I would add black shorts to this!
t-shirt - AHA T-shirt - Tee and Cake from Topshop
Tights - Pink ABC tights - Henry Holland for Pretty Polly
Ankle boots - Primark
I PROMISE TO LOWER MY HEMLINES ONCE IN A WHILE :
The 1940's tea dress. I picked this one up ages for very little money. The belt was gone and the pin holding the loose neckline in place. But as soon as I put it on I couldn't leave it. It is the most flattering dress shape ever. The longer hemline makes it easier to wear and incredibly comfortable. My dad reckons (when it's belted, pinned and wonderful) that it looks slightly like an old nurses uniform from the 40's. I have no idea....any thoughts? But one of the things I love the most about tea dresses is how adaptable they are. You can team with black biker boots for a grungy punk-ish effect, ballet slippers for a girly look or high heels for...well, you know the drill.
I PROMISE TO WEAR MORE HEADSCARVES :
I don't know why I don't wear head scarves more often. More then likely because I am worried about them slipping down constantly! Either way, it's knotted and pinned into place this time so it should be fine.
I PROMISE TO WEAR MORE VINTAGE :
Fur, I know I am going to get killed for this. But this is a full length rabbit fur from the 50's. I have no idea if I like or hate it. It was a semi present from someone. But in these times, it's warm which is all you can ask for! But style wise I never know what to put it with. I went for a funky 40's/50's twist. Combining my epic headscarf from Z and my tea dress. Then I danced....oh how I danced.....
clothing - All vintage but the coat is from Lucy's Lounge in Dublin. In Temple Bar. She has many of these! All wonderful and wonderfully priced!
