April 2018 - Monthly Empties & Month in Masks

Time to take a look at my beauty garbage:

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 in Light ~ sample shown (full size is $50.00 CAN). A multitasking, tinted BB cream that merges makeup and skincare in one step.

I have this in light and it was a little too light for me so I mixed it to lighten other foundations - on it's own, it wasn't the best formula for me.
Repurchase: No

Benefit Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara ~ sample size (full size is $32.00 CAN). A mascara inspired by hair rollers, this super-curling and lifting mascara gives a sexy, wide-eyed look.

This mascara is pretty good - it certainly lengthens and curls; but, it gets a little spidery on me. It's good, just not my favorite.
Repurchase: Probably not

Dior Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation ~ sample shown (full size is $64.00 CAN). A 24-hour, full-coverage, water-based foundation.

I got this sample in the shade 30 which was too dark for me (I'm more around 15 in this range); but, I'm loving this formula. I have heard complaints about the smell, but I don't mind it at all. This goes on so nicely and does not need to be set with powder and wears all day!
Repurchase: I'm going to get a sample in my shade!

L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara ~ $13.99 CAN (prices vary in stores and online). Voluptuous volume. Intense length. Full lash fringe. Feathery soft.

I loooove this mascara! It adds so much volume and length - you can see my full review on it here! I actually made my favorite products of 2017 - it's that good! This is amazing!
Repurchase: Yes, I need too!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation ~ sample shown (full size is $49.00 CAN). An oil-free, medium-to-full coverage, natural-looking, radiant foundation.

The shade I have is Light Beige and it was a good match; but, this foundation oxidized so bad on me, it didn't look good at all. I wasn't a big fan of the formula on me.
Repurchase: No

Burt’s Bees Beeswax 100% Natural Lip Balm Tin ~ $4.89 CAN. This 100% natural lip balm is made with beeswax and other beneficial ingredients, which help leave your lips feeling conditioned and hydrated, and a small dash of peppermint provides the finishing touch to this luscious lip balm.

I don't really like potted lip balm; but, this one was really stiff and hard to use. Not for me.
Repurchase: No

Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream for Oily Skin #530 Light/Medium ~ $10.99. Covergirl’s Clean Matte BB Cream is an oil-free formula that provides the perfect amount of coverage to even skin tone, hide blemishes, won’t clog pores and keeps you shine-free all day long.

This is much more full coverage than I expected from a BB Cream - I really like this! You can see the coverage on my review here. I think this is a great, affordable full coverage option for oily skin that actually wears all day.
Repurchase: Likely...

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion ~ $17.00 US. The Drying Lotion is a fast acting, effective acne spot treatment. Formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients, this product will shrink ugly whiteheads virtually overnight while you sleep.

This is actually a toss - I was super excited to try this as I saw it in a lot of people's favorites last year; but, this was total garbage. This didn't help reduce spots and I swear it made my acne worse! It somehow cause more and made it worse. I will stick to my pimple patches.
Repurchase: Never

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask ~ deluxe size shown (full size is $33.00 CAN). An overnight, moisture-recharging gel mask that quickly absorbs while you sleep to deeply hydrate skin.

I'm a big fan of this sleeping mask - it's just a super hydrating and really softens and soothes the skin overnight!
Repurchase: Yes, I have a few samples to use still!

LadyKin Affinitic Snail Cream ~ sample shown (full size is $22.00 US). Infused with Snail Secretion Extract, Affinitic Snail Cream improves the skin's natural elasticity, tone and texture, making it ideal for those with mature skin types.

Ahh.. how cute is this teeny tiny moisturizer?! This moisturizer was fine, there actually wasn't very much in this little sample, but usually I expect a bit more with snail lotions and this was just okay for me.

Repurchase: Not likely...

Maison Jacynthe Cleansing Oil ~ $30.75 CAN. Clean your face gently and deeply without harming your skin and without letting your eyelashes fed by the components of the product.

This was actually a really good cleansing oil - it is also recommended for acne prone skin as it helps regulate sebum. This was a great first cleanser and it took off my makeup and worked well. I liked the dropper applicator too.

Repurchase: Yes, I would!

Bath Time Store Silky Smooth Skin Cream - Rose Infused Facial Cream ~ $14.50. This ultra-silky cream helps rejuvinate the skin while it moisturizes.

I loooooved this when I first received it in a Bath Time Box a couple of years ago - it was my go to moisturizer for a while (I think this is my second or third container). Rose products work really well on my skin. But, I think I was just using this one for too long and it just didn't work as well for me anymore.
Repurchase: Maybe!

Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil ~ sample shown (full size is $15.49 CAN). This Burt's Bees Facial Cleansing Oil removes make-up and dirt without sacrificing the skins natural moisture.

This cleanser did not smell good at all - I found it hard to use. Also, this particular packaging on the sample was hard to use. You couldn't squeeze the container so you kind of had to shake this to get it out. (This isn't a problem with the full size as it has a pump). But honestly, this is a toss - I didn't think this worked great. It didn't really get rid of my makeup and to put up with that smell with something that didn't work well just wasn't worth it.

Repurchase: Nooo...

Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner ~ travel size is $17.00 CAN (full size is $56.00).
Light facial toner spray hydrates and refreshes.

I am a pretty big fan of most Dermalogica products that I have tried; but, this one was just okay for me. It worked fine, I just didn't see any huge difference with this toner.
Repurchase: Probably not

Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water ~ $14.95 CAN. For all women & men looking to reduce redness and soothe irritations and discomfort, while improving the quality of skin and reinforcing the skin's natural defences against external factors and prematured aging.

I love this mist! It adds quick hydration; but, I used it every day before my serum as well and I noticed how nice my skin looked when I used this.
Repurchase: Yes

The Saem - Chocopie Hand Cream Cookies & Cream ~ $12.02 CAN. Improves on wrinkles and whitening effect. Moisturizes hands.

This lotion looks like a wagon wheel and smells yummy! I got this in one of my old k-beauty subscriptions and it's super cute! It was a little greasy for my liking though - the product wasn't the best hand lotion.
Repurchase: Not likely

Bath Time Store Cleopatra Milk Bath ~ $9.50. Featuring Soy and Goats milks, with both Dead Sea and Epsom salts, all lovingly combined with our own special blend of essential oils. Soak, savor, and soar!

I really liked this milk bath - I thought it was really gentle smelling and soothing on the skin!
Repurchase: Maybe - I should get through my other bath goodies first!

Lush "Sleepy" Hand and Body Lotion ~ sample shown (full size is $9.95 - $19.95). Slather on this gorgeous pale purple lotion, breathe in its sweet, comforting lavender and tonka perfume and you'll instantly feel at ease.

This is a lovely lotion - I raved about it before! You can see my full thoughts on it here. It's so gentle smelling and the perfect way to relax before bed. I use it every night. Now, this little jar I use on my 1 year old before his bed time to help calm him down and I love it!
Repurchase: Yes!

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion ~ sample (full size is $15.97 CAN). Cetaphil moisturizing lotion is a non-greasy, lightweight moisturizer that hydrates and protects your sensitive skin.

This was good - I think Cetaphil is really gentle on the skin! Nothing crazy amazing, but it worked well.
Repurchase: Maybe...

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat ~ $11.99 CAN. The only true 2 step gel manicure with no light required.

I love this top coat - it works really well!
Repurchase: Yes

Sephora Colection Solid Clean: Solid Brush Cleaner ~ mini size $10.00. A gentle, solid sponge and brush cleanser featuring argan oil and a warm Moroccan fragrance.

I really like this brush cleaner - I like it as much as the Beauty Blender solid cleanser and this is a better price!
Repurchase: Yes!

Sally Hansen are my favorite affordable nail polishes! I liked this one - such a perfect yellow!
Repurchase: Yes

I loved this - a friend made it for me! It was a thick sugar scrub with real lavender in it too! Smelled so good and worked well.
Repurchase: Only if she makes it for me again

Shiseido Facial Cotton ~ $11.00 CAN. This exclusive Facial Cotton is 100 percent natural and uniquely manufactured for a consistent soft, smooth texture.

I love these cotton pads - I had heard rave reviews forever, and finally picked them up at a past VIB sale (and repurchased them again at the sale) and these work so well. I basically use them to remove makeup or apply toner. Sounds like such a silly product to love; but, they really are great!
Repurchase: Yes

Cetaphil Baby Ultra Moisturizing Wash ~ sample shown (full size is $9.97 CAN). Nourish delicate skin at bath time with Cetaphil Baby Ultra Moisturizing Wash. This rich lathering wash contains ⅓ baby lotion and is designed to leave baby’s skin soft and supple.

This is the best smelling baby wash ever! This worked really well too - I'm a fan!
Repurchase: Yes!

I love that these are biodegradable - I can throw them in my compost which is awesome! Overall, these were good. Maybe not the best wipes I have used, but good.
Repurchase: Maybe

Orajel Baby Natural Source Homeopathic Teething Pain Relief Gel ~ $8.97 CAN. New Orajel® natural source homeopathic remedy teething gel soothes painful teething gums and calms the restlessness and irritability associated with cutting teeth.

Okay, I contemplated putting this in my empties; but, seriously if you have a crazy, teething baby, you know you need this. Elliott gets this pretty much every night because teething is basically never ending!
Repurchase: Yes!

Small Batch Soaps Black Magic Unicorn Soap Bar ~ $9.50.  A magical unicorn soap, with a dark twist. Gentle enough for entire body and face, including those with sensitive skin.

I really liked this soap! It had teeny tiny little granules that made it a little exfoliating while you use it. Plus, it smells great!
Repurchase: Yes

This smells delicious and was so cute! It is nice and refreshing and fizzed really nicely!
Repurchase: I would, yes

Lush Fizzbanger Bath Bomb ~ $6.95 CAN. Whizz! Bang! Pop! Fizz! Fizzbanger goes off in the bath water as if it were loaded with miniature fireworks.

The scent is described as cinnamon and apple and it smells delicious! This was fun to use as it did crackle in the bath!
Repurchase: It looks like it is on last chance, so probably not...

Lush Christmas Sweater Bath Bomb ~ $7.95. You'll be snug as a bug in a rug when you dip into a warming blend of spicy clove bud, refreshing coriander seed and cleansing Sicilian lemon oils.

This one was super cute - it was a warm, cozy scent that was a little spicy, but still good.
Repurchase: If I see it again next Christmas

Small Batch Soaps Pumpkin Bath Bomb ~ $3.00. Bath bombs are an extra special bath time treat, that bubble and fizz as soon as they're dropped into the water.

Apparently I was feeling a lot of Fall products this month (that's because it was still freezing cold and snowing a ton in early April here in Calgary!) This has cocoa butter drizzled over it to soften the skin. This was good!
Repurchase: Maybe

Lush Heart of Enlightened Expectation Bubble Bar Melt ~ $8.95 CAN. A rich topping of fair trade organic cocoa butter turns bathwater into a silky, softening sanctuary to leave skin moisturized and velvety. A romantic bouquet of jasmine, rose and ylang ylang enchants the senses as fluffy bubbles create a cocoon of coziness.

This is the prettiest bubble bar - it smelled so good and I loved the huge layer of cocoa butter on the top. I really hope this comes back next Valentine's Day - I will stock up!
Repurchase: Yes if I see them again!

So, in April I used up 35 products! Woo hoo - I actually didn't think I went through that many products; but, it turned out that I had a lot of baths this month and I went through and finished up my foundation samples!

And, now here is a look at my Mask Empties/Month in Masks for March:

Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask ~ sample size (full size is 100 ml for $112.00). Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask with advanced antioxidants is a hydrating treatment that immediately reveals softer, firmer, healthier-looking skin.

This is a leave on mask and it has a really great texture - it is light and velvety and feels so smooth and soft on the skin! This smells amazing (like cucumbers - really refreshing) and made my skin look really good! I loved this! I reviewed this for a Skincare Sunday post a while ago - you an see the detailed review here
Repurchase: Maybe, it's expensive, but so good!

Glamglow x My Little Pony #GlitterMask GravityMud Firming Treatment ~ $75.00 CAN for 50 ml. This holographic sparkle treatment delivers mega-targeted ingredients like a TEAOXI® complex of licorice and marshmallow leaf that help make skin’s contours feel firmer and look more defined after just one shimmering use.

How amazingly pretty is this mask?! Glitter pink sparkles are amazing! This did work to brighten and refresh my skin. I thought it wouldn't do anything so I'm glad it had a good effect on my skin as it's a little on the pricey side! You can see a full review on this here
Repurchase: Let's use up what I have first...

Lovemore Yurong Scattered Amazing White Mask Sheet ~ $2.75 CAN. A brightening sheet mask enriched with a recipe of 9 traditional Chinese herbs, Aloe Vera extract, Pearl Barley extract, and Loofah extract, to deeply nourish and moisturize the skin.

Repurchase: Yes, I would

Beauty Clinic - Mediheal Dress Code "Blue" Mask ~ $3.00. Herb, Aqua care, (Anti-wrinkle function).

I love this mask - I have featured this multiple times (I bought a ten pack) and it made my favorites last year, so I have love it for a long time. Super hydrating for the skin and just refreshed and brightened the skin.
Repurchase: Yes

Paula's Choice Rehydrating Moisture Mask ~ $30.00 US. Smooth, soften and hydrate dry, distressed skin instantly with plant oils and amino acids that create a moisture-locking barrier.

This can be a rinse off hydrating mask or an overnight mask - I like the dual purpose. I thought it worked great as an overnight mask and was a really light formula so my pores won't get clogged and was very gentle.
Repurchase: I will keep using this and decide!

Paula's Choice Pore Clarifying Charcoal Gel Mask ~ $30.00 US. Balance oily skin and decongest pores with charcoal and natural clays suspended in a soothing gel mask for a refreshed, shine-free complexion.

This is a really nice gel textured, thin charcoal mask - this made it really easy to use and didn't feel like it was heavy and thick on the face. I enjoyed that this cleaned out my pores and was a really light formula.
Repurchase: I will keep using this and decide!

Skoah Klearity Mask ~ sample $6.00 (full size is $48.00). This mask helps provide 'klearity', err clarity. Great for blemished, oily, and acne-prone skin.

I always mix these 2 masks together - wear for 15 minutes and then rinse off. I love the aha because it is tingly and pepperminty and the klearity works well for my blemishes! My skin looked so good the next day - it was bright and clear. I love this combination.
Repurchase: Yes to both of them!

Innisfree Skin Clinic Mask - Vita C ~ $2.87 CAN. This fine delicate cotton mask with functional whitening improving benefits contains vitamin C derivatives to brighten your dull skin, leaving it looking clear and radiant.

I like Innisfree masks generally - this one was pretty good. It wore for about 30 minutes and it was fine. My skin felt good after; but, this wasn't the most amazing mask ever. This was fine.
Repurchase: Eh, maybe...

Miniso Collagen Eye Masks ~ $??

These are from a Miniso shop in Vancouver and they were gifted, but I know Miniso is really affordable! These masks were okay - I like any under eye masks really, but I did rip a chunk off of this one trying to get it out of the package.
Repurchase: I still have a few more to try first!

Origins GinZing Peel-Off Mask to Refine and Refresh ~ $34.00 CAN (deluxe sample shown). A refreshing peel-off mask with a unique pearlized finish that instantly lifts away dull, tired skin.

This mask is fortified with coffee beans, ginseng, and a gentle fruit acid complex - it is meant to lift away dirt, debris, dull and dead skin, leaving skin looking bright, clear and radiant! Also, it is meant to reduce the appearance of pores for smoother looking skin! I really loved this mask - you can see a full review on this mask here

So, I used 11 masks this month - I'm surprised how many leave on masks I used over sheet masks this month; but, I like to mix it up!
