Have not been to Ippudo for a while, so it was a surprise when Louie (Manager) came by and said hi. He still remembers us! I really appreciate little gestures like that. Makes me want to keep coming back. :D
I'm a creature of habit so I always, always have Karaka-Men Tamago (P420.00) Ippudo's original tonkatsu broth with spicy minced meat, miso paste and garlic oil. Never fails.
I was looking forward to my favorite Ippudo dessert - I even liked it better than their ramen! - but sadly they changed menu and Soy Panna Cotta was one of those that did not make the cut.
Louie sent us his favorite Green Tea Brûlée instead.
I was not a fan of Matcha until this. You judge a brûlée based on the caramelized sugar on top and this cracked beautifully. The custard was smooth and not too sweet. The earthy matcha taste was exactly how I liked it. Strong but does not leave a bitter after taste.
I always love coming back to Ippudo for it's slurp worth ramen, dream inducing desserts and Cheers (where everybody knows your name.) like people. Thank you, Louie and Ippudo Megamall.
